Lenin street, in Tsentralny district of Novosibirsk, will become pedestrian next year. It was stated by Vladimir Gorodetsky, mayor of the city, at the meeting with reporters.
He pointed that in 2013, co-owners of the Altai’s retailer «Maria-RA» are going to begin demolition of the Centralnaya hotel and construction of a new hotel with another format at the same place. The construction of subterranean parking under Lenin square begins at the same time. Lenin street should be blocked for this work. “We’ll see how we’ll endure traffic flow redistribution. I am sure that we will go through it and build the decently developed pedestrian infrastructure" –the Mayor said.
According to him, secondary subterranean road, which was earlier proposed by the Chief Architect Vladimir Fefelov, won’t be useful for the city. «The way for building a huge capacious subterranean parking has already been chosen, and if it’s a parking, then the roadway couldn’t be there» - the Mayor concluded.
